Privacy Policy

Last updated October 29, 2026

Check Your Elf ("we", "us") is a holiday planning app from The Archivista. This policy explains what we collect at checkyourelf.com and what we do with it. We do not sell your personal information.

What we collect

  • Account details: your email address and, if you use Google sign-in, the name and email Google shares.
  • Your planner: the answers you give the generator (such as your elf's name, children's age range and preferred styles), your calendar, custom ideas and personal messages on printables.
  • Purchase access: a record that your account activated the Full Pack (for example from an Etsy welcome link). Payments happen on Etsy; we never see your card details.
  • Messages you send: idea suggestions and support messages, including any name you add.
  • Usage information: anonymous, aggregated counts of which ideas are used, swapped or checked off, so we can improve content. These counts don't include your family's details.
  • Technical data: standard server logs (such as IP address and browser type) kept by our hosting provider for security.

Cookies and browser storage

We use only essential storage: to keep you signed in and to keep an unsaved plan on your device. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To provide and save your planner and printables.
  • To unlock paid features you bought.
  • To answer messages and improve our ideas.
  • To keep the service secure and meet legal obligations.

Who we share it with

Only service providers that run the app for us (hosting, database and sign-in), under confidentiality obligations, or when the law requires it. Etsy handles your order under its own privacy policy.

Children's privacy

Check Your Elf is meant for parents and adults. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Please don't enter children's full names or other identifying details beyond a first name on a printable. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.

How long we keep it

We keep your account and planner while your account is active. Ask us to delete your account and we'll remove your personal information, except records we must keep by law.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including California, the EU and the UK), you may ask to access, correct, download or delete your information, or object to its use. We don't sell or "share" personal information for advertising. To make a request, use our contact page or email kat@thearchivista.com; we'll reply within 30 days.

Security

Your data is stored with access controls so only you can see your planner. No method is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. Significant changes will be shown in the app.
